function module to reutun characteristics for a class

there is a transaction CL03 to display the class and characteristics. Give class type and class name and then enter. The class will be displayed. In the characterisitics tab, you can see characteristics. For certain classes, the characteristics are red in color implying that they are the inherited characteristics.
And the original program may be using one function module to get those characteristics. Can anybody help me how to find the function module if it exists, to return the same to use in my current program . How to find the program name and the function module for this specific purpose. Please try to give me some way of finding it....its urgent

Hello sumanth,
I achieve good results with the BAPi BAPI_CLASS_GETDETAIL or BAPI_CLASS_GET_CHARACTERISTICS. Others are BAPI_CLASS_GETLIST etc.
