creating a message type
hi,
I am sure this would be a dumb question however kindly help as I am a starter.
I have to work on interfaces and in the process create a custom message type.
I have a fair idea about the IDOC's and how to assign message type to IDOC's however what's confusing me is how to create a custom message type. Is there any transaction for the same.
I would greatly appreciate if someone can let me know the differrence between the IDOC type and Message type.

Thank you for your response. Actually I was referring to the custom message type that can be assigned to an inbound IDOC. I have to develop an interface which requires me to create a custom message type and assign it to the existing inbound IDOC for delivery.
Any Inputs would be greatly appreciated.
